We want to buy the perfect place
for a New Sofia Center.
It’s been 20 years since the first time Lama Ole said we should look for a building to buy as our own Diamond Way Buddhist Center in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
Back then in 2002, he described a house in downtown Sofia. In 2005, he told us to keep on looking for a property — but he advised us to go for a factory.
Since then, we have been looking for our Sofia center in waves of enthusiasm. For our Sangha this has been a long process of growing up, maturing, and gaining strength and clarity.
Restarting the project again and again, we’ve come to this point today. We are still looking for our center. But now we feel we are truly ready for it and we have no doubts that we will succeed. We are on the lookout for the New Sofia Center, so that it can bring even more light to Sofia, the Balkans and the whole world!

IT’S TIME for the NEW SOFIA CENTER!
This website represents several lay Diamond Way Buddhist centers and groups of the Karma Kagyu Tradition in Bulgaria under the spiritual guidance of His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje, and directed by Lama Ole Nydahl. They are not abstract institutions but friendly places where all can meet to learn from Buddha’s timeless wisdom, meditate, share experience and development, and actively participate and do the work which makes all this possible.
In 1969 Ole Nydahl and his wife Hannah met the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, historically the first incarnate lama of Tibet. Since then the teachings of Diamond Way Buddhism have gradually found their way to the West. His Holiness asked them to teach, establish meditation centеrs and ensure that the teachings would remain alive and attractive to intelligent, critical, lay people in the Western world.
